Edition 2010: Titia Hahne

Titia Hahne graduated at The Photo Academy (Amsterdam) in 2005 with a project in which she portrayed singers. In most cases, photo shoots are brief moments in which you try to document an artist or a band. Hahne literally stays close to the subject, since she is interested in the person behind the mask. This results in a collection of revealing close-ups of singers of well-known rock bands. She has the quality to photograph the artists during a vulnerable moment, devoid of the poses they hide behind. The gaze of the musician is the focus of the image. You can almost read their minds.

Since 2004, Titia is working as a freelancer for Dutch musicmagazine OOR. She also shoots for Lowlands Magazine, Vice and Playboy. Hahne has published in GUP Magazine, Subbacultcha, Guts Magazine, The Guardian and BBC Online.
